COO BIOMASON
CHAIRMAN OF THE BOARD OF ‘THE BIG OCEAN CLEANUP’
On a mission to inspire young people to be their best self in their quest of building a more sustainable planet, Bert Bruggeman is currently the COO at Biomason, a US based biotech company, and the Chairman of The Ocean Cleanup, a Netherlands based NGO that deploys technologies to rid the oceans and rivers of plastic.
Upon graduating from KU Leuven, he started his career at imec. After moving to Silicon Valley for adventure and opportunity, he worked with world-class innovators and entrepreneurs, and has been part of teams that changed the world with unique semiconductor devices (Cypress), solar cell substrates (SunEdison), robotics solutions (Kindred), the best selling EV (Tesla), and the world's first biology based cement (Biomason).
He has held positions from an engineer in the factory to the executive leader in the C-suite. He also engages with innovators as an executive advisor and coach to help accelerate their innovative ideas to the marketplace.
